FACTS ABOUT KIDNEY DISEASE

Kidney disease is out of control. It is the seventh most frequent cause of death in Australia, exceeding road deaths, suicide and breast cancer.

Renal Ride Australia - 2007

TRIP UPDATE - October '07

IT'S OVER!!!

Margie has completed her epic journey around Australia. We congratulate Margie for the awesome work and effort put in and we now urge all visitors to this site to donate on Margie's behalf to Kidney Research.

DONATE HERE.

WHO AND WHY?
Hello, my name is Margie Raynor. I am a school teacher from Adelaide and I recently completed a year-long solo bicycle ride around Australia to help raise funds for Kidney Research.

The ride has meant cycling in an anticlockwise direction from Adelaide where I started in January 2007. I have travelled along the coastal highways, through many major towns, including Launceston and Hobart. I arrived back in Adelaide at the end of October 2007.

Much-needed funds were raised for Kidney Health Australia, an organisation that gets little profile in the media despite the statistics.

Various schools were visited along the way and I spoke to students about maintaining optimum kidney health. In conjunction with teachers from Woodcroft Primary School in South Australia, students had the opportunity to contact other schools across the country, exchanging school logos.

Various companies (see right) provided support for this important ride through sponsorships and donations. My trip was self-funded, so all donations have been and will continue to be directed to Kidney Health Australia.

While this is a long ride, I am not new to this. In October 2005 I completed an 11 day ride across the Nullarbor for Kidney Health Australia. ABC Radio in Adelaide interviewed me before, during and after the ride and I obtained generous sponsorship from many companies. (see Renal Ride 05 website)

But this ride is a lot longer and far more arduous and some days, every kilometre feels twice as long as the last one. So please, lend your support by making a donation to Kidney Health Australia.

Thanking you in advance
Margie
